6.4 Earthquake That Shook Nicaragua’s West Coast Felt In Costa Rica

Two early morning quakes that shook Nicaragua’s Pacific coast were felt in Costa Rica.  The first quake,  6.4 on the Richter Scale, was felt as a slight tremor in San José at 3:37am. The replica, registering 5.5, a few minutes later (3:41am), however, went unnoticed.

According to Today Nicaragua, the epicentre of the quake was some 23 kilometres (14 miles) west-southwest of the town of Jiquilillo, and 160 kilometres (99 miles) west-northwest of the capital Managua. The quake’s epicentre was at a depth of 70.9 kilometres (44 miles).

No reports of casualties or damages  official sources reported.
