TODAY COLOMBIA – With the aim of providing protection to women, Colombian apparel firm Miguel Caballero has unveiled its new 2014 collection of bulletproof clothing exclusively for women recently in the Mexican capital of Mexico City.

The new collection from the Colombian firm aims to overcome the unavailability of vests and jackets for women that are manufactured considering the female anatomy as most of the apparel with ballistic solutions available in the market has flat shields.

According to the company, the bulletproof clothing collection for women features jackets, sweaters, coats and some versatile garments in fluorescent shades with wide range of designs and textures, including a tactical vest weighing 800 grams that incorporates a smart technology mesh in third dimension, which makes the clothing breathable, and also features silver powders making it an anti-bacterial garment.

The front design of the jackets and vests in the collection for women are created with hand folds and then completely manufactured through equipments, in order to avoid energy absorption in the chest area, while incorporating ballistic panels to avoid serious trauma post-attack.

Founded nearly 22 years ago, Bogota-based Miguel Caballero specializes in a range of bulletproof apparels, including motorcycle gear, and security and military personal protection clothing.

Last year, the company also came up with a unique line of bullet-proof clothing for school children between the ages of 8 to 16, following the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in the US state of Connecticut where 20 children and six staffers were openly shot and killed.
