(QCOSTARICA) According to confidential documents made public by a legislator, the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad has lost hundreds of thousands of customers in recent months.

An article on Crhoy.com reports that “… The telecommunications sector of the Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) has lost about 200 thousand customers in May t to June his year. This is stated in a series of documents published by Deputy Jorge Arguedas, corresponding to the entity’s financial status and customers. ”

Congressman Jorge Arguedas, former ICE official said that “… At present, the ICE has not invested almost anything in improving its telecommunications services and it seems that things will remain this way, and this, coupled with the appalling deficit up to December last year, will bring terrible consequences. ”

It was also reported that the information contained in the documents exposed to public knowledge now shows that “… ICE’s electricity sector also has financial problems, according to reports, in November 2014 it closed with a deficit of 62,000 million colones ($120 million), a 253% difference from 2013. ”
