In the last five days the Constitutional Court or Sala IV has received five filings against the decision of President Luis Guillermo Solís to raise the “diversity” flag at Casa Presidencial and other public institutions.
Last Friday, President Solís took part in an official flag raising at Casa Presidencial.
The press office of the Constitutional Court said that two of the complaints were rejected, the other three are in the “admissibility” stage.
The “recursos amparo” (appeals) are asking the Court to order the President not to raise the “diversity” flag in official events.
One of the filings requests the President to publicly apologize “for the misuse of Casa Presidencial”.
The other two argue that “it undermines the moral and ethical principles of Costa Rica family, as marriages of the same sex are not constitutionally recognized”.
