Rendering of Nicaragua’s Costa Esmeralda airport

QCOSTARICA – Costa Rica’s regional airline, Sansa, is no offering flights between Nicaragua’s new Costa Esmeralda airport, about 16 kilometres west of Tola, near Rivas (ECI) and Liberia and San Jose, in Costa Rica.

The airline offers two daily flights, a morning and afternoon, to and from the Daniel Oduber airport in Liberia (SJO) and Juan Santamaria airport in San Jose (SJO), providing direct aviation access to Nicaragua’s Pacific Coast.

The airport is located only 15 minutes away from Mukul Beach, Golf & Spa. The airport is also within driving distance of San Juan de Sur.

“The arrival of Costa Esmeralda Airport will introduce the country to a global audience seeking new adventures and serve as a direct route to our majestic coast,” said Don Carlos Pellas, owner, Pellas Development Group, “It will reduce transfer time from Managua and Costa Rica, supporting Nicaragua’s flourishing tourism, which is essential to the country’s development.”

The airport will commence commercial service on November 14.

Cost for a one-way (according to the Sansa website for November 14 online booking) is US$100.42.
