Q24N (Prensa Latina) Ecuadorian Vice-president Jorge Glas urged all citizens to get involved in the reconstruction of the country”s north-west coast, struck by an earthquake on April 16.
Glas, who leads the committee for the reconstruction of the areas affected by the earthquake, acknowledged that the reconstructive work would take years, but it will be accomplished because of the government’s strong commitment.
He explained that the main axes for reconstruction are: shelter implementation, debris removal, infrastructure erection and production reactivation.
According to Glas, the National Finance Corporation channeled $10 million USD in loans for boosting the production in Manabi.
The public and the private sector must join effort for reconstructing the affected areas, he said.
Meanwhile, another Colombian ship will leave for Ecuador with humanitarian aid for the victims of the devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake, the newspaper El Tiempo said.
The boat will transport 11 tons of food, blankets, medicines and water, the Commander of the Armed Forces, General Juan Pablo Rodriguez said.
The Colombian Government has also sent several shipments with food, tents and cleaning products by air and by land, two of them delivered by President Juan Manuel Santos himself during his visit to areas struck by the quake.
