QCOSTARICA – The Autoridad Reguladora de los Servicios Públicos (ARESEP) – regulatory agency for public prices and services – approved Monday a reduction in gasoline prices.
The notice needs to be published in La Gaceta, the official government publication, possibly this week, to take effect.
The drop is of ¢1 colones for super and ¢22 for diesel fuel; and an increase of ¢1 for regular/plus
Thus, the price of a liter of super gasoline will be ¢600 (from ¢601), regular ¢575 (from ¢574), and diesel ¢478 (from ¢500).
According to the ARESEP, the adjustment is to reflect a reduction of international fuel prices.
Costa Rica does not refine oil. The state oil refinery, RECOPE, imports finished fuels for distribution to gasoline stations and natural gas operators. Prices are the same at all gasoline stations across the country.
