QCOSTARICA – The Municipality of Nicoya (Guanacaste) has a beef with film actor and producer Mel Gibson over his property.

Nicoya mayor Marco Antonio Jiménez says the Gibson’s property has invaded the maritime zone.

Jiménez adds that Gibson closed off a public road, intending to sell the 500 acre property – including 96 acres land that belongs to the State.

Gibson arrived in Costa Rica with the promise of turning the country into a location for movies.

The confrontation between Gibson and the Muni (Municipality) is not new, on earlier occasions the government and mayor had to intervene when buildings were erected on the estate without the respective municipal permits and payment of taxes.

The property, located in Playa Barrigona, is up for sale at a cool US$29.750.000 dollars.
