(QCOSTARICA) Although not complete, the new demarcation of the Ruta 32 (San Jose – Limon) confuses drivers, who now fear even more accidents.

The Ministry of Transport (Ministerio de Obras Publicas y Transportes – MOPT) is also introducing the “2 +1” system of enabling a lane to safely overtake vehicles and avoid accidents.

This system and the mix of old and new paintings on the road is creating confusion among drivers.

While crews this week continue applying paint, next week they will complete placing plastic divider poles every 15 metres, to separate the lanes in curves and problem areas.

Not respecting the posted speed limits and the large amount of heavy trucks (many overloaded) make the Ruta 32 a high risk in the best of climate conditions. Now, add the rain and ….
