COSTA RICA TRAVEL NEWS — The Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Transportes (MOPT) annnounced a change in schedule for ferry service between Puntarenas and Pauquera, starting October 29.

The MOPT said they are taking out of service the Tambor 3 ferry boat for maintenance that will be performed at the ASTIVIK shipyard in Cartagena, Colombia. Since the work is being carried out during the off-season for the service, it should not affect users significantly. The Tambor III is expected to resume regular service by December 10.

In the meantime, ferry service will be provided with only the Tambor II, on the following schedule:

 

Starting October 29
Leaves Puntarenas Leaves Paquera
7:00 a.m. 5:00 a.m.
11:00 a.m. 9:00 a.m.
3:00 p.m. 1:00 p.m.
8:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m.
The ferry ride is about 90 minutes from point-to-point. ThePaquera docks serves the Pacific coastal communities ofTambor, Montezuma, Malpaís and Santa Teresa.The cost for an adult passenger is ¢810 colones, child is ¢485, passenger vehicle ¢11.400.
