QCOSTARICA — Once again the Ruta 32, the main road between San José and Guapiles/Limón, was shut down due to landslides, caused by overnight rains in the mountains of the Braulio Carrillo national park.

The Ministerio de Obras Publicas y Transportes (MOPT), says it was forced to close the road around 8:00pm Sunday, in the area of Rio Sucio.

David Meléndez, director of emergency services at the MOPT, told the media that work crews began the clean up at dawn (6:00am) this morning and hope to have the road reopened by noon. Weather permitting.

For the time being, travel to and from Limón is being rerouted by way of Turrialba.
