According to Cervantes Institute (Instituto Cervantes), a worldwide non-profit organization created by the Spanish government in 1991, confirms the numbers for 2015, with 7.9% of all Internet users communicate in Spanish.

Cervantes says Spanish take the same position on the two main social networks, Facebook and Twitter, both with huge potential for growth in their use.

The Instituto Cervantes, responsible for promoting and teaching of Spanish and spreading of Ibero-American culture, said that Spanish was the second most-used language on Twitter in predominantly English-speaking cities like London or New York.
