With the goal of collecting ¢100 million colones, more than 4.000 volunteers from the TECHO Costa Rica will take to the streets today and tomorrow, May 30 and 31.
TECHO, also known as Un Techo para mi País (Spanish for A Roof For My Country), is a nonproft organization that mobilizes youth volunteers to fight extreme poverty in Latin America, by constructing transitional housing and implementing social inclusion programs.
The Costa Rica drive to give at least 40 families in the areas of Guararí, Tres Rios and Martina Bustos, in Liberia, a decent roof.
The volunteers are well identified and easily spotted, in red t-shirts and with their little wooden house collection containes, usually taking donations from drivers at intersections, streets, parks and other places with a large number of people.
Donations can also be made at BAC San José branches and ATM machines.
