In the third quarter of this year tourists who arrived in the country stayed an average of 10.3 days, registering an increase of 15% compared to the same period in 2016.

The Central Bank of Nicaragua (BCN) published on November 24, 2017 the Tourism Survey Report for the third quarter of 2017.
During the third quarter, incoming tourism registered an average stay of 10.3 days, reflecting an interannual variation of 15.3 percent and -0.5 percent compared to the second quarter of 2017. On the other hand, daily per capita expenditure made by these visitors was 48.1 dollars, with spending by tourists from North and South America standing out, representing an interannual variation of -1.2 percent and 5.5 percent with respect to the previous quarter.
During this quarter, cruise ships entering the ports of San Juan del Sur and Corinto, recorded an average expenditure of $86.3 and $36.8 per passenger, respectively.
Outbound tourism reported an average stay of 12.8 days, 5.1 percent lower compared to the same quarter in the previous year. On the other hand, per capita daily expenditure of this group was 35.5 dollars, with spending by tourists who visited South America and other regions standing out the most, representing a variation of 3.0 year-on-year and 46.1 percent with respect to the previous quarter.
