COSTA RICA NEWS — Construction of a sports club, social and special events centre in an area measuring 22,600 square metres west of the capital, in Santa Ana is expected to start in December and operations will begin in September 2015, with the initial opening of tennis courts, a soccer field, semi-Olympic swimming pool, cafeteria and parking areas.
Achilles Viso, majority owner of the project Campo Lago, told Elfinancierocr.com that “… We will continue with the construction of other areas without affecting the comfort of the people who are already enjoying the first stage of operations and construction will be completed sometime around 2017.”

Located in the Radial Santa a Belén (Lindora), the investment of US$20 million dollars will convert the current property, used since 2008 solely as an events centre, in a true country club family recreation centre.
Once complete, the project will have eight tennis courts, six of which will covered, similar to a stadium with a capacity of 1.100. A semi-olympic swimming pool, a futbol5 soccer court, three covered and three open racquetball courts, a rock climbing walls and a 600 metre trail will round out the activities available to some 1.500 members.
Others Remodeling
Since last year several upscale clubs announced remodeling and expansion of its facilities. Such is the case of the San José Indoor Club, located in Curridabat, with an investment of US$4 million, of an expansion that began in October 2013. The Country Club, in Escazú and the Costa Rica Tennis Club, located in La Sabana, have invested a similar amount in remodelling projects.
The Club Unión, in downtown San José, across the Correos de Costa Rica (post office), en el centro de San José, opened a café, a business centre and improved the underground parking under the area that separates the Post Office and the Club.
The Asociación de Interclubes now counts with 14 club affiliates with a similar profile that Campo Lago Club wants to join, among them are the Club Español in Belén de Heredia; Centro Campero Los Reyes, in La Guácima de Alajuela; the Castillo, in San Rafael de Heredia; Cariari Country Club; Club La Guaria in Moravia; Club Punta Leona and the Costa Rica Yacht, both located in the province of Puntarenas.
