Costa Rica forward Joel Campbell believes there is no reason his country can’t beat Italy, England and Uruguay at the World Cup in Brazil.

Costa Rica is the underdog places in Group D in first round of play alongside the European and South American giants.

But Campbell is confident that his team can overcome the odds and shock the world.

“I don’t think about playing against individual players – we’re playing against a country,” he is reported telling Calcio Italia News.

“England, Italy and Uruguay are not composed of just a few players. It’s 11 against 11, and obviously we have to do well to win – but this is an important moment for us.

“Can we beat England? Yes, why not. We have a good team. It’s a game, like the others we have to play against Italy and Uruguay.

“We have to do well, but I believe we can win.”
