Two days after Sunday’s presidential elections, Bank of America deals a harsh blow to Costa Rica’s economy with the cutting of 1.500 jobs within the next 12 months.

In a statement, the company said the measure (leaving Costa Rica) is to make better use of resources and streamline the company, closing its operations in Costa Rica in the next nine to twelve months.

In Costa Rica, BA Continuum, a division of Bank of America, has employees with profiles in information technology, accounting, finance and business processes.

The Bank of America operations are located in Parque Empresarial del Este, Calle Blancos, on the north side of San José.
