300 volunteers will clean up Playa Tamarindo

A group of some 300 volunteers who will celebrate the second anniversary of The Clean Wave Foundation will develop an environmental effort in Playa Tamarindo and Playa Langosta, in Guanacaste.

The initiative will take place on July 13 and 14 when that group – made up of Ticos and foreigners – will clean the beaches, reforest pathways and green areas.

The plan has the support of the Cámara de Comercio y Turismo de Tamarindo (CCTT), Algo por La Tierra, Cultura Tibás, Eco Runners CR, Enviajarme, Eco Moncho, EcoGrecia, EcoTárcoles, Fundacion GreenHeart, Futuro Verde, Green Wolf Cr, Greenland, Monteverde Forest Cleanup y Operation Rich Coast.

In addition, One Hand CR, Picnic Costa Rica, Ríos Pura Vida, Sennamiki, SunnyErg, Surfrider Tamarindo, Un Puerto Limpio y la Fundación Costas Verdes whose founder, Federico Gutiérrez, will give a talk related to reforestation issues on July 14.

Likewise, the organizers have the support of the Instituto Costarricense de Turismo (ICT), Bandera Azul Ecológico, Municipalidad de Santa Cruz, Fuerza Pública (National Police) and the Cruz Roja (Red Cross).

The organizers of The Clean Wave described the plan as “historical fact to be able to count on so many hands in favor of the environment in an area such as Tamarindo and Langosta whose main focus is tourism. The invitation is open to all those who want to join any of the activities.”
