They say that everything looks better from above, maybe that’s why many love “miradores” (lookout points), where the beauty of the cities and nature seems to be even more unique from above.
Here is a list of seven cool miradores prepared by Maricela Campos over at conozcasucanton.com you can visit.
1Orosi Valley
Located in the province of Cartago, Orosi is great for a low-cost family tour and ideal for rest and relaxation. In addition to the view, a great place for a picnic overlooking the beautiful Orosi Valley.
How to get there: From Cartago follow the signs to Paraiso, the 3km south of the church.
Hours: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
Cost: Free
2Pico Blanco
High up in the mountains of Escazu, Pico Blanco of the most perfect lookout points of the Central Valley located in a hotel and restaurant infrastructure similar to a castle.
How to get there: Make your way to San Antonio de Escazú, from the church 300 east, a right and one kilometer south.
Hours: Monday to Saturday from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Sundays from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm
Cost: The mirador is part of the hotel and restaurant, though there is no cost to visit, you may be asked to consume to hang around.
3Quetzal
A wildlife sanctuary, characterized by abundant vegetation and cold weather.
How to get there: From San Jose, at kilometer 70 of the Ruta 2 in the area of Cerro de la Muerte.
Hours: 6:00 am to 8:00 pm (3:00 pm for the trails)
Cost: US$6 per person (US$16 for a trail guide)
4Valle Azul
It is a restaurant that is characterized by being a very cozy place, it is also known for its pastries and wines.
How to get there: From Alajuelita center, follow the signs to San Antonio de Alajuelita, the sports bar 25 meters east and 2 km south and 1km east.
Hours: Monday to Friday 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm, Saturdays and Sundays noon to 11:00 pm
Cost: The mirador is part of the restaurant
5Le Monastère
Midway up the mountain in Escazu, you can dine in peace while admiring the view of city below.
How to get there: from the old road, head south at the Paco, keep to the right, then a right at the end of the road and just continue up the mountain.
Hours: Monday to Saturday 6:30 pm to 11:00 pm (Closed Sundays)
Cost: Fancy restaurant costs
6Rancho Mirador Prendas, Sarapiquí
A majestic natural paradise, hidden in the slopes of the inactive volcano Cacho Negro, is Rancho Mirador Prendas. A place consisting of high mountains and a large forest where you can appreciate the lush landscape of the area and the Caribbean plain.
How to get there: It is located in the province of Heredia, at the fork of Sarapiquí, 5 km west of the center.
Hours: 8:00 am to 9:00 pm
Cost: Free
7Ram Luna
You would never imagine the view at the top that is waiting for you after winding through the narrow streets of Desamparados. “Desde 1967 con las estrellas a sus pies” (Since 1967 with the stars at your feet), is the motto characterized by Ram Luna.
How to get there: From the main in Desamparadors to Sur Aserri Carretera to Tarbaca
Hours: Monday to Thursday 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Friday from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm; Saturday and Sunday noon to 11:00 pm
Cost: Medium to fancy priced restaurant
