(3:47 pm) The Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ) and Fuerza Publica (National Police) are working to resolve an apparent case of an American being held against their will, in Piedades de Santa Ana, this Friday morning.

The investigation is centering on the assumption that a “North American man” was intercepted by unknowns, pulled out of his vehicle and placed into another.

As reported by the Fuerza Publica, at first, the case was being handled as a possible “bajonazo” (hold up at gunpoint), but the victim has not appeared.

Authorities are still not handling it as a kidnapping, given that no ransom demand have been made.

In fact, the OIJ confirms that there is no complaint filed or contact by anyone alluding to the case.

They are, however, keeping it as an ‘open’ investigation.

This report is ongoing, we will be updating as more information is available.
