facial_2-recognitionQCOSTARICA – Costa Rica’s state bank, the Banco Nacional (BNCR) said it will be rolling out face recognition technology for client logins to its mobile banking.

Working with the Spanish biometrics company, FacePhi, Banco Nacional customers can access their accounts on mobile device quickly and security.

According to the FacePhi website, starting in the second quarter of 2016, the clients of Banco Nacional, the largest bank of Costa Rica and Central America, will have access to their banking accounts through their mobile devices with the face. In the second phase, the bank will also offer to their clients the possibility to access to their online banking accounts with the face.

With face recognition technology, customers no longer need to enter a password to access their accounts.

The Banco Nacional founded the 9th of October of 1914 with the name of Banco Internacional de Costa Rica. In 1936 the name was changed to Banco Nacional de Costa Rica, and since then it has been consolidated as a real development bank with a transcendent projection in the economic, social and financial life of the country.

It also hold a stake of 49% in the Banco Internacional of Costa Rica Limited (Bicsa) and 100% of BN-Valores (Stock Exchange), BN-Vital (Pension Funds), BN-SAFI (Investment Funds) and BN Corredora de Seguros (Insurance Brokers).
