By Adrianna McKinney, Vozdeguanacaste.com -What better place to kick back and watch a movie than at the beach? You can do just that, free of charge, at Guiones beach on Saturday, February 22, starting at 6 p.m., immediately following sunset at the south side of the main entrance.

Two films will be shown. The first one will be a short surf film, 3 Killas Y Un Kiwi, shot in part in Nosara. The feature film planned is “El Regreso,” filmed in Costa Rica by Costa Rican director Hernán Jiménez.

“Costa Rica has a small film industry that needs more exposure,” explained Peter Hudson, who is organizing the event.

Hudson, from Australia, has been visiting Costa Rica off and on since 1998 and three months ago decided to start Sunset Leisure Group Limitada to host outdoor cinema events and promote films around the country that are not just entertaining but also educational.

He tested Guiones as a site for movies on the beach on Sunday, January 12, and received positive feedback after the impromptu showing of two surf movies, followed by the feature film Slum Dog Millionaire. He noted that there isn´t much to do in the area after sunset and explained that an outdoor cinema is a great way to bring the community together in a family atmosphere.

The event is supported by members of the Nosara business community, including Beach Dog Cafe, Howling Monkey Adventures and the Nosara Spanish Institute. Hudson said that proceeds from events will be donated to community projects.
