QCOSTARICA TRAVEL – Glori, Karla, Tavo y Trejos of QuebuenLugar.com last month (April 2016) took a hike to one of the Costa Rica’s peaks, the Cerro Dragon.

How to get there with Waze

Type of vehicle required: 4×4 by way of Aserrí, sedan by way of Acosta

No pets.

What to wear? Comfortably clothing, sunblock, hat or cap, water hydration, energy bars, dried fruit and a preferred snack.

Distance: 12,3 km.

Difficulty: High

To reach this small town you can go by Aserrí or by Acosta. By Aserrí is closer but you need a four-wheel drive, the terrain is rough.

The walk starts on a normal gravel road, but then the way path  narrower, beautiful and demanding. This trail goes along the edge of the mountain with paddocks with 360 degree views, there are many cows and depending on the time there are blackberries.

After that it gets a little more intense, the slope is quite challenging, you could say that is the best training for those who want to prepare to climb the Chirripó.

After about 3 hours of walking, you will reach the Cerro Dragón. A half hour more you reach the top, the Espalda del Dragón.
