QCOSTARICA – In April, the consumer price index fell by 0.09%, putting annual inflation at 0.92%, and inflation accumulated so far this year stands at -0.17%.
The groups with the greatest contribution to the CPI in April 2016 were: Transport and Furnishings, housing and domestic services.
In April 2016, of the 315 goods and services included in the consumer basket, 53% increased in price, 37% decreased in price and 10% had no change.
When analyzing the percentage changes of the twelve groups that comprise the index, it can be seen that the transport group is having a major effect on the variation of the general index.
In the last five years (2012 to 2016) the highest cumulative percentage change from January to April was in 2013 and 2014 with 3.20%.
