QCOSTARICA – Traders, industrialists and entrepreneurs in the agro sector disagree with the position of the main private sector union over the negotiation of new taxes.

Three business unions have ratified their opposition to new taxes in Costa Rica and have made known their total lack of empathy with the way the Uccaep, an organization that unites most of the unions in the private sector, has dealt with the Solis administration over tax issues, the negotiation of a shareholder register proposed by the government and other aspects related to the fiscal problems affecting the country.

The unions in question are the Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Industries and the Chamber of Agriculture and Agribusiness.

From a statement issued by the Chamber of Industries of Costa Rica:

In the Chamber of Industries of Costa Rica we believe the decision to leave or be part of the negotiations on the issue of a corporate database rest solely with Don Ronald Jimenez, President of the UCCAEP.

Regarding the issue of public finances, the Chamber of Industries continues to believe that the solution to the fiscal deficit must be comprehensive, both on the side of expenditure and revenue, and we visualize that on this position there is enough consensus and agreement in the business sector.
