COSTA RICA BUSINESS NEWS — Starting Monday, October 27, representatives of the government of Luis Guillermo Solís will be entering negotiations with Canadian investors to strengthen commercial ties between the two countries.
President Solís will be taking part in the activity at the 8th edition of Toronto Global Forum, that brings in more than 400 entrepreneurs and investors from Canada and the United States. The forum will be on October 27 and 28 at the Fairmont Royal York hotel.
The Toronto Global Forum, held under the auspices of the International Economic Forum of the Americas (IEFA), offers an opportunity to profit from the knowledge of such prominent speakers as heads of states, central bank governors, ministers and global economic decision makers.
According to President Solís, the Toronto tour looks to generate more employment opportunities in Costa Rica. “My government is taking a decisive action to generate decent jobs, using one of the engines of the economy, direct foreign investment. The meeting with Canadian business leaders will allow us to show them Costa Rica has a highly qualified and competitive worker.”
Along with the President, the official delegation is made up of the Minister of Foreign Trade, Alexander Mora; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Manuel Gonzalez and CINDE’s Director General, Jorge Sequeira. They will be accompanied by representatives of the Union of Chambers and Associations of Corporate Sector Privadao (UCCAEP), Victor Ruiz, Claudio Volio and Jack Liberman.
The Costa Rican delegation is expected to talk up influential Canadian groups, such as the Economic Club of Canada, the Postmedia Group, that includes the National Post, a leading Canadian national newspaper, the Vancouver Sun, Calgary Herald, Edmonton Journal, The Star Phoenix, Ottawa Citizen, Windsor Star, Montreal Gazette, Canada.com.
