Q COSTA RICA – In Costa Rica, the Cámara Costarricense de Hoteles (CCH) – Costa Rican Chamber of Hotels, includes 32 registered properties which are categorised luxury hotels, offering accommodation options with prices ranging from US$160 to US$30,000 dollars (no misprint) per night.
The price range is from a survey conducted by La Nación of the reservation sites of 22 Costa Rican hotels, for lodging for one person for June 16/17 2017.
The wide diversity of tourists that the country receives explains the existence of a wide range of hotels, according to representatives from the CCH. The hotel supply caters for both tourists looking to stay in one star hotels, to other more demanding customers, seeking higher-level alternatives.
Topping the list of the most expensive option was the Four Seasons in Guanacaste, where spending a night at the resort’s best can cost US$30,135.
Rajiv Malhotra, general manager of Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica, explained that this type of accommodation, in luxurious environments, represents a small part of the resort’s inventory.
“While attending international personalities, we offer personalized and intuitive experiences to all our guests, including families looking for genuine experiences where quality, personalized service, gastronomy, culture and Costa Rican nature converge,” said Malhotra.
Following the Four Seasons, and at a much lower price, is Ocio Villas By Casa Chameleon in Puntarenas. The price tag is US$3,955 f or a night in its largest villa.
A night at the Andaz Península de Papagayo will set you back US$2,113, at Reserva Conchal the most expensive is US$1,587, and the The Westin Resort & Spa Playa Conchal will put you up for US$795.60.
Of course, the foregoing is the best that each property can provide. For more budget conscious guests, the Four Seaons has rooms starting at US$799.50 a night, for example.
In San Jose, the presidential suite at the Marriott Costa Rica (located in Belen, minutes from the San Jose airport) is US$999 per night; at the Intercontinental Real (located in Escazu) the top price of US$610.20.

Flora Ayub, executive director of th CCH, explained that Costa Rica receives all kinds of tourists, from guests looking for one star hotels to more demanding and more profitable customers looking for higher-end hotels that offer elegant facilities, state-of-the-art technology and very high-level services that can give customers 100% satisfaction and comfort.
