QCOSTARICA – The Ministerio de Obras Publicas y Transportes (MOPT) has published on social networks a series of posters to remind drivers of driving rules and safety issues.

Although NOT ILLEGAL, it is good advice to not use sandals, especially on motorcycles, while driving
Whenever on a motorcycle or bicycle, wear a helmet
Walking at night, make yourself visible to drivers
From 10 pm to 5 am, traffic lights operate as stop signs.
Always buckle up
Don’t forget the jumper cables, they are called “lagartos” in Costa Rica
Turn signals are not decorations
Using the cell phone while driving is sanctioned with a ¢113,000 colones fine
