(QCOSTARICA) The downpoursbetween Saturday and Sunday in the Caribbean and northern area of the country caused the flooding of at least 120 homes in the province of Limon.
According to the Comisión Nacional de Emergencias (CNE) – national emergency commission – they responded to 24 incidents: 13 in Pococi, two in Guacimo, two in Siquirres, two in Matina, one in Talamanca and four in Limon centre.
Soil saturation and flooding of rivers, canals and streams were the main causes of the emergencies.
In addition to flooded homes, a number of bridges and rural roads were damaged by the water.
The Instituto Meteorológico Nacional (IMN) – national weather service, says the rain will continue at least into Wednesday, but not as intense as the over the weekend.
The rain also dumped on the Central Valley but did not cause any emergencies.
