Q24N (Prensa Latina) Members of the Elements of the Honduran Technical Elements of Criminal Investigation Agency (ATIC) arrested today the mayor of San Fernando, Ocotepeque department, Jairon Chinchilla Carrillo, who is accused of leading a gang of contract killers.

The municipal mayor, associated with the criminal gang Los Carrillo, is allegedly involved in the death of three people and in drug trafficking, stated the ATIC spokesman Jorge Galindo.

After the arrest of Chinchilla Carrillo and as part of Justiciero operation, the judicial authorities issued arrest warrants against 10 other criminal cases, part of the mentioned criminal group, the source reported.

The police attribute several crimes to the gang ‘Los Carrillo’ including drug trafficking.

With the arrest of Chinchilla Carrillo it totaled two the councilors accused in recent months in this Central American country.

The authorities arrested last February, through Avalanche operation the mayor of Talanga Jorge Neptalí and Francisco Morazan for money laundering and conspiracy.
