Costa Rica’s state-owned telecom operator, the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) will assume full control of Cable Vision on September 1, 2019, nearly 6 years after acquiring 100% of the cable operator.

The transfer was finally approved after a thorough examination of the various aspects of the process to ensure it was in line with concessions previously ordered by telecommunications regulator Sutel.

Cable Vision currently offers pay-TV and internet access via HFC in the cities of San Jose, Alajuela, Cartago and Heredia.

ICE has acquired 100% of pay-TV operator Cable Vision in December 2013, closing a negotiation that started in 2012 when it took over the majority of the shares, supplementing its IPTV service with cable TV.
