COSTA RICA NEWS — The Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) said Tuesday that for next year it plans to build a new office building with the objective of unifying offices and save ¢1.3 billion colones per year on rentals.
The new building will mean an investment of US$43 million dollars for the state light, power and telecom agency.
ICE says the building will house some 600 employees, is to be built in La Sabana, near its head office, and do away with the rental of 10 properties. In addition to saving on rental payments, ICE says the new building will also be more cost effective in terms of utilities and maintenance.
“This project is part of the policy of efficiency, economy and resource optimization that drives the current administration,” said ICE chief executive, Carlos Obregón.
Obregón added that under review is the project to unify building use by the Compañía Nacional de Fuerza y Luz (CNFL), the Radiográfica Costarricense (RACSA) and Cable Visión, all three ICE subsidiaries.
Construction of the new ICE building is expected to start next year, with a completion date in 2016.
