The legislator from Puntarenas shared a video he recorded at the aerodrome, in order to demonstrate the state of the facilities.

“It is a matter of time before a disaster occurs with one of the hundreds of tourists that arrive in this area,” said Núñez.

“It is irresponsible that after years of economic success with the national parks and beaches of the area, Quepeños (residents of Quepos) and Costa Ricans have been lied to in this way (…) The Quepos airport is essential,” said the legislator in the video posted on Facebook.

According to his complaint, aircraft need additional force to achieve the appropriate speed for takeoff. The deteriorated runway, in addition, creates a dust wave when there are takeoffs or landings.

The aerodrome is located on Costanera Sur and serves domestic and rare international flights. The most popular destinations to fly to from Quepos are the Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose (SJO), Perez Zeledon and Daniel Oduber airport in Liberia (LIR).
