QCOSTA RICA – The American pizza chain Little Caesars on Friday December 19 will be opening its first restaurant in the Paseo de las Flores mall, in Heredia.

little-caesarsThe company Inversiones Danube that already owns the Popeyes and Dairy Queen franchises, says it invested US$500.000 dollars in the first pizza store in the country. The company did not give details on what it paid for the franchise.

Miguel Hernández, president of Little Caesars Costa Rica, said the restaurant will create 20 direct jobs.

“We are also working on a second restaurant in Desamparados and seeking out new locations to the expand the presence of Little Caesars in the country,” said Hernández.

Virya Navarro, marketing manager of Inversiones Danube, explained the Paseo de las Flores store will have an area of 140 square metres and in early 2015 will open the second located in Centro Comercial Zona Centro, de San Rafael Abajo in Desamparados.

Navarro said that Little Ceasars pizza prices are affordable, starting at ¢4.500 colones (US$9) for a large pizza.

The first 50 customers on opening day Friday will receive a pizza a week for an entire year.

Little Caesars is the fourth largest pizza chain in the United States, after Pizza Hut and Domino’s Pizza and Papa John’s.  In Central America, it has stores in El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama and Honduras.

Little Caesars joins the growing chain of fast food restaurants in Costa Rica, and directly compete with other American pizza franchises Pizza Hut and Papa Johns.
