QCOSTARICA – Carrying lots of cash can get you arrested in Costa Rica. Such is the case of a 45 year old man, identified by his last name Jorrolds, who got suspiciously nervous at a police checkpoint in Playa Jacó.

According to the police report, the man had tried to avoid the spot check near the Pacific town of Jaco, making the officials suspicious of the driver.

Asking permission to inspect his vehicle, officials of the Fuerza Publica discovered ¢15,000,942 colones and US$10,000 dollars without being able to clearly explain its origin. The cash was in a bag in the trunk of the car.
