Peru is one hour ahead of Costa Rica.

This new flight and others announced in the last couple of months is part of the Instituto Costarricense de Turismo (ICT) – Costa Rican Tourism Board and the government of Luis Guillermo Solis to attract more visitors from other countries other than the U.S.

President Solis, stressed that during this administration “a professional and meticulous work has been done to achieve such an important rebound in the matter of airlines, which is strengthened by the decision of Latam to choose the country as its only destination of Central America.

Mauricio Ventura, Minister of Tourism, stressed that the country continues to increase flights, the number of operations of airlines companies and, therefore, increasing the number of tourists entering.

“With Latam’s decision to fly directly and for the first time to the country, we opened our horizon and managed to penetrate into South America, a market with great potential for Costa Rica…today we materialize the efforts with the arrival of this important airline, one of the strongest in the hemisphere in tourism and cargo,” he explained.

Recently announced is the return of KLM to Costa Rica starting direct flights in October and Air France’s increasing its weekly frequencies to Costa Rica from two to three for the 2017-2018 tourist season. The Swiss airline, Edelweiss is getting to start service direct from Zurich.
