QCOSTARICA – The new bank for women by the Banco de Costa Rica (BCR), Banca Kristal, managed to allocate US$2 million dollars in credit cards in just one month of operation, according to data provided by the BCR.
The BCR revealed that between November 20, 2015 and January 6 of this year, it has issued 6,220 credit cards to women and with another 2,280 in the approval process.
Banca Kristal credit cards have the highest interest of all BCR credit cards.
The Banca Kristal was created by the BCR to cater exclusively to women, opening its doors in November last year.
According to the BCR and the Banco Nacional’s BN Mujer, women are better clients for credit, with lower delinquency rates.
Maria Aminta Quirece, manager of the Banco Nacional’s women’s banking program says that women have shown greater loyalty and customer satisfaction over men.
The market for financial products for women has increased over the last five years, although specific loans and savings programs are few.
