CENTRAL AMERICA NEWS (Prensa Latina) The Vice President of El Salvador, Oscar Ortiz, opened today a Woman City (Cuidad Mujer) in Morazan, 160 kilometers from the capital, an initiative that seeks to provide support, education and empower the female population of the country. This project has all the institutional support of the government, is an important social project for women”s rights, said the Vice President.
Ortiz also said that the state supports this project, “as the large Salvadorian family that we are”.
About six thousand women attended the opening ceremony of the sixth Women City, which, according to the newspaper Colatino, will provide psychological therapy, smear tests, mammograns, advice to entrepreneurs, workshops, vocational courses and childcare.
Likewise, about 47 thousand women will be assisted in this new city.
“We deliver this Woman City to you, because it belongs to you and thus we fulfill another promise of the President Salvador Sanchez Ceren”, said the Secretary for Social Inclusion, Vanda Pignato.
