TODAY NICARAGUA – The mayor of Nicaragua’s capital city of Managua has started earthworks estimated at us$35 million and plans to convene tenders for the construction of the stadium structure in the coming months.

The tender for the construction of vertical works will be undertaken by the Municipality and is expected to be convened in six months time. The new National Baseball Stadium will require an investment of approximately US$35 million, funds will be provided by the Nicaraguan Government through a loan already approved by the Board of the City of Managua.

The stadium will be located north corner of the Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería, UNI.

Elnuevodiario.com.ni reports that “… Over the next three months earthmoving work, installation of pipes for potable water and sewage will be carried out. It is expected that within six months tenders will be ready for raising the structure which will have capacity for 20,000 attendees. ”

The secretary general of the mayor of Managua, Fidel Moreno, added “… The facilities will be ready for the realization of the Central American and Caribbean Games in 2017. ”
