TODAY NICARAGUA NEWS – (Prensa Latina) The building of a canal in Nicaragua represents today a challenge of engineering, specially because of the size of the work, higher than those existing of its type, asserted the main advisor of the Bill Wild project.
During a press conference in this capital Wild noted that the main challenges are related to the scales of structures, and the weather conditions and frequency of natural phenomena like earthquakes.
However, he has stated that they have one of the best group of advisers and consultants worldwide, and the technical feasibility study have already finished.
Also emphasized that the analysis of the environmental and social impacts are closed to end and a new report on progress in these research will be presented.
Last week, representatives of the Chinese company HKND, concessionaire of the project, and other associate presented here advances of the inquiries in this respect.
The deputy director general of construction HKND, Kwok Wai Pang reported that a new design, which includes an internal port, located inland, among other changes, in order to minimize possible damage to nature.
Initially Nicaraguan equipment and personnel will be used, but as the work progresses, it will be necessary to incorporate material and human resources from other countries, Wild said.
