centrolac416387TODAY NICARAGUA – So far this year 21.8 million kilos of liquid milk have been exported, 9 million more than in the same period of 2014.

Sales of various presentations such as skim milk, low-fat, lactose-free, whole milk reported up to 21 April an increase of about 70% in both value and volume, as reported by the Center for Exports. So far this year about $17.3 million has been generated from sales of fluid milk.

Centrolac milk is available in Mas x Menos and other stores. Last week MM was selling 3 – 1 litre combo for ¢1.400 colones. A litre of Costa Rica’s Dos Pinos typicall sells for ¢800.

[/su_pullquote]Elnuevodiario.com.ni reports that “… Venezuela is the country that buys the most fresh milk from Nicaragua. This South American country has this year bought 18.4 million kilograms of liquid milk … Nicaragua also sold 1.5 million kilograms of liquid milk to Costa Rica; 315.075 kilograms to El Salvador; 610.162 kilograms to Guatemala and 682.159 kilograms to Honduras. Export volumes of milk to Costa Rica had a growth of 15.2%; those to El Salvador 50.8%; to Guatemala 78.8% and Honduras 70.1%. ”

Despite the increase in exports, a drop has been reported of about 1.27% in the international price of milk, in light of this Wilmer Fernández, president of the Nicaraguan Chamber of the Milk Sector, said that “… Despite the deterioration (in prices) that exists in the international market, we are seeing offset by an increase in export volumes. ”
