479361083_avionetavueloambulancia20152QCOSTARICA – The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (Dirección General de Aviación Civil) announced that night flights at the Tobias Bolaños (Pavas) airport will resume starting December 1: from 6:00pm to 9:00pm for tourist and general flights, and from 9:00pm to 6:00am for ambulance flights.

In October, Aviación closed night flights at the airport to save on operating costs.

Rolando Richmond, spokesperson for Aviación said austerity measures at the airport will continue.

Richmond explained that the night flights will be under the full responsibility of the pilots, in communications with the Air Surveillance unit of the Suguridad Publica (Costa Rica’s airport police unit).

The Pavas airport is located on the west side of San Jose.
