QCOSTARICA – While it is used to be La Nación, Diario Extra, who etc. never really published “numbers” just guesstimates. Now we have a plethora of number crunchers who get themselves published every week.
Some numbers are guesstimate and same are out a n’ out propaganda.
Think of this……
22% of Costa Ricans are considered poor. These are legal Ticos with either a residence card or nationality who live in poverty and losing on a jobs daily basis.
Unemployment is above 10% leading to long lines for menial work and to those theft for food of conveniences. Eighty, alone have been left to go from a major project this week of forestation.
Nobody is sure of the abject poverty in the country but it is guessed to be at 7% of the population.
70% of the so-called luxury home owners have yet to pay their taxes.
80% of corporations, as of those due February 2, 2015 have not paid their taxes.
30% have yet to pay their automobile taxes and insurance.
Our President, Luis Guillmero Solis is setting a record for trips abroad. Of the 14 trips abroad we must include March’s scheduled which will incorporate Paris, Spain and Italy. For what reason we do not know. The (Paris) France trip can be attributed the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (in May 2013) declaring its intention to open accession negotiations with Costa Rica in 2015. The rest is good food and a taste of Spanish life.
The 2015 fiscal budget instead of being reduced has been increased by 19%
The proposed sales tax is a proposed VAT, 15% and not 13%.
30% is the level of Solis’ approval as president. Much lower than Laura Chinchilla after nine months in office.
Lets get real:
We have an administration where the people and investors are saying, “What do you want?” And there is no defined answer in reply. A problem with professors (I was one). But this time we as a Prof. who elected a president and none, zero of his campaign promises have come to fruition: not even his own budget.
The quest for “change” is bringing Cosa Rica still due for water rights to parcels, to “I’ll promise what you want,. If you love me.”.
This Administration has carved a clear and obvious chasm between the left & right. And most devastating, Making either side happy.
The epicenter del problema (the problem) is simply who and the hell is going to invest facing, water restriction, phantom taxes and hyper-electric cost no tot mention a government is which operates like ping pong ball all over the place.
