Parents opposed to vaccinating their children may lose custody

Parents who oppose vaccinating their children may end up in court and even lose custody of the children.

Up to March of this year the national children’s welfare, the Patronado Nacional de la Infancia (PANI), received a little more than 3,500 complaints, ranging from lack of medical attention to carelessness in vaccination.

Parents are obliged to vaccinate their children and if they oppose it, they are exposed to losing custody of the children.

Children of foreigner families must also comply with the provisions of the law.

The Caja (Social Security) is currently active in the vaccination campaign against the human papillomavirus in 10-year-old girls, and on Monday it began vaccinating against influenza.
