kraft-mac-and-cheese-225QCOSTARICA – PriceSmart in Costa Rica, on its website, posted a warning about possible contamination of a batch of Kraft macaroni brand, which may have been bought by Costa Rica consumers.

The PriceSmart warning follows notice by Kraft Foods recalling 242,000 cases of original flavor Kraft Macaroni & Cheese — that’s 6.5 million boxes — because some of the boxes contain small pieces of metal.

The boxes have “best when used by” dates ranging from Sept. 18, 2015 through Oct. 11, 2015 and are marked with the code “C2.” They were sold throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico, and in some countries in the Caribbean and South America. A complete list of affected products is posted on Kraft’s website.

The Kraft recall covers 7.25 ounce boxes that were sold individually and in packs of three, four and five. The company says no other varieties, pasta shapes or package sizes are affected by the recall.

“PriceSmart has just been reported by Kraft Foods Group a voluntary recall of product #211808 KRAFT Macaroni & Cheese because the product may contain metal particles,” cites an announcement posted on the PriceSmart website.

According to the release, PriceSmart says it has not received any complaints from members or any reports of adverse effects associated with consumption of this product, however, and as a precaution the company is asking members with any existing product to stop using it immediately and return it to the store where purchased for a full refund.
