BREAKING NEWS (6:23AM) – After more than a week of little external activity, the Turrialba volcano resumed its expulsion of gases and steam.

The Volcanological and Seismological specialist Observatory (OVSICORI), confirmed an “abundant” gasification out of the west crater of the colossus, after a period of relative calm.

“It has been expulsing gas and steam with a small amount of ash,”volcanologist María Martínez explained.

In addition seismic activity remains high, reflecting the dynamics that present the fluids through the cracks.

“The resumption of gasification is passive but rigorous with the expulsion of fine particles,” she added.

According to Martinez, the activity that presents the Turrialba volcano is normal, since it corresponds to the process of eruptions that started last October.

Authorities recommend people living near the volcano, to protect water that is for human and animal consumption.
