The President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro stepping out of the driver’s seat of the SUV as he arrices for the CELAC summit. Where was the secuirty threat?

TICO BULL – I have been glued to the television set, watching the CELAC summit that is ongoing in Belén, broadcast live on Canal 13 (The SINART chanel 13).

I have to admit that after the first few speeches by several presidents, who basically are saying the same thing, in different ways, “we have to fight poverty, fight the drug trade, etc, etc, etc”.

But, I did find some amusement in two different occasions, in Raul Castro and Nicolas Maduro, the presidents of Cuba and Venezuela, respectively.

In his speech, unless I heard it wrong, Castro commented on the United States ending the blockade of Cuba, “the American President finally realizing that the blockade didn’t have the effect and hurt its own people”.

And then there was Maduro.

The headlines last night were about his concern over his security and the threats he against him in Costa Rica.

But, he then drivers himself to the event. Uh? A Chavez he is not. Oh well.

Definitely a break from the boredom. I think I will take a nap before the afternoon session.
