26 Confirmed Deaths in Costa Rica From AH1N1 Virus

QCOSTARICA – The Ministry of Health (Ministerio de Salud) confirmed Friday two new deaths from the AH1N1 virus in Costa Rica, raising the official death toll to 26.

The information did not detail the day of death or the hospital, only saying that one of the victims was a 51 year-old man, resident of Guadalupe, in Goicoechea (San Jose), with high risk factors such as obesity, heart disease and asthma. The man had not been vaccinated against influenza.

The other person, a 67 year-old man with a history of medical problems such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and a smoker, was living in Corredores, Puntarneas.
