3,100 were denied entry to Costa Rica by immigration officials in January.

Majority at land border posts

QCOSTARICA — Costa Rica’s immigration service, the Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería (DGME) reported the denial of entry to the country of more than 3,100 foreigners, at the different border points, during January of this year.

According to the immigration data, the majority of these rejections occurred in the land border posts with Nicaragua at Tablillas and Peñas Blancas with more than 2,800.

According to DGME data, more than 1,100,000 people were able to enter or leave Costa Rica in January of this year.
