COSTA RICA NEWS – Former president Laura Chinchilla said on Monday in a statement in her defamation trial against tourism operator Alberto Rodríguez, she is seeking to “cleanse” her honour and that of her family.

Rodriguez had used the social networks for his public criticism of Chinchilla and other government officials.

The reason for Chinchilla’s suit against the businessman is over a series of publications of an alleged land purchase made by the former president.

The trial is expected to continue through Wednesday, when the trial judges are expected to pass judgement.
